In layman’s terms, LRV measures the percentage of light a paint color reflects. Why should this matter to you? If you paint a room that has a low LRV and has no natural light, then the room will be dark. This is why you will often see a color paint that you love and it looks amazing; then you purchase it and put it in the den that has very little light and you would swear that it is another color. Colors with an LRV above 50 are much lighter and reflect more light than they absorb. Higher LRVs help to create a warm, “daytime” feel.
